18th Century Enema Syringes

These 18th century syringes can be seen in a show case of the Musée des Plantes Médicinales et de la Pharmacie, inside the Institute of Pharmacy of the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels (Bd du Triomphe, B-1050).

Used and abused from 15th to 19th Century, they served to insert in the rectum various kinds of laxatives1.
