"Aldo Castellani with disciples", by Roberto Fantuzzi (1935)

This oil-on-canvas portrait of Aldo Castellani with his disciples, was painted in 1935 by Italian painter Roberto Fantuzzi (as revealed by the well readable signature). The painting is displayed in the entrance hall of the "Istituto di Clinica delle Malattie Tropicali e Infettive", in the Policlinico Umberto I of Rome.

On a bronze plaquette an Italian inscription reads as follows: "CON IL PROFESSORE ALDO CASTELLANI SONO PRESENTI / L'ALLIEVO PREDILETTO VINCENZO SORVINO - GLI ALLIEVI ACANFORA G. / AMALFITANO G. - BENETAZZO B. - BIANCHINI C. - CANNAVO' L. - CIFARELLI F. / COLOSIMO C. - CULIOLO M. - GAMBINI G. - GIROLAMI M. - JACONO I. / MASTRANDREA G. - MIDULLA C. - PARONI S. - TERBINI T. - TOBIA A. - TRIPODI P. / I COLLABORATORI CONSALVI M- - EDERLI A. - PIERELLA M. - SASSU S. - TRENNA P.".

Most probably the physician at the left of Castellani, with glasses and a monaural stethoscope in his hand is Igino Jacono.
