Alessio Cioffi De Alessi's tomb

The tomb of Alessio Cioffi De Alessi is situated under the central aisle of the church of Santa Maria in Publicolis in Rome (via…). The marble tablet was placed by his father Ovidio and his mother Margherita. The Latin inscription states as follow:
ALEXIO CIOFFIO DE ALEXIIS/ NVN CVPATO/ CIVI ROMANO/ QVEM QVOD OB EXIMIAM/ IN MEDICA ARTE PRAESTANTIAM/ MVLTOS VITAE DESTITVTOS/ QVASI ALTER AESCVLAPIVS/ PRISTINAE REDDERET INCOLVMITATI/ IRATAM MORS ET VIVIS ERIPVIT.
The theme of Death attacking someone who saves many lives, such as this remarkable physician, is very recurrent in 1600s to the point of becoming a commonplace.
