"Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp", by Rembrandt

The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, by a Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn, is surely one of the most famous paintings related to the history of medicine. This oil on canvas was painted in 1632 and it is now housed in the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The main scope of the famous Dutch painter was to celebrate the teacher and his pupils more then to give exact details of an anatomical dissection1.
