Andreas Vesalius humerus

This precious item is an humerus bone. It is part of the collection called "Curiosità" (Curiosities) of the Museo anatomico in Naples

It is part of a skeleton that was prepared by the famous anatomist Andreas Vesalius for one of his demonstrations 450 years ago, during the period he spent in Basilea.
It is still glistening thanks to a transparent varnish, which was used at the time. Next to the bone you can see a donation letter1.
