Antoine Depage monument

A bronze bust of Antoine Depage can still be seen on the facade of the old Centre de Santé de la Croix-Rouge de Belgique in Brussels (at the corner between Place Brugmann and Rue Stallaert). Depage had been President of Belgian Red Cross and this Institution wanted to honour him when this centre was built in 1926, just beside the Institut chirurgical Berkendael, another achievement of Depage.

Upon the bust we can read a bronze inscription: "FONDATION / ANTOINE ET MARIE / DEPAGE", and behind it the years of birth and death of the renowned surgeon: "1862 1925".

The bust is a work by Godefroid Devreese1. On the stone basament, We can read with some difficulty two inscriptions among the plants: "ANTOINE / DEPAGE" and, on the right, "JB. DEWIN / ARCHITECTE 26".
