Antonio Maria Valsalva's tomb (disappeared)

After his death in 1723, Antonio Maria Valsalva was buried in the church of San Giovanni in Monte, in Bologna (Piazza San Giovanni in Monte, 3). Unfortunately, in 1824 many tombstones were removed from the church floor, among them the one of Valsalva¹.

The inscription on the tomb read as follows: "D.O.M. / ANTONII M. VALSALVAE / IMOLENSIS / MED. CHIRUR. ANATOM. / PRAECLARISSIMI / OSSA / IN PROX. SEP. CONDITA SUNT / OBIIT / ANNO SAL. CIƏ. DCCXXIII / POSTRID. KAL. FEBR. / VIX. AN. LVII. D. XV / CAN. REG. LAT. / B. M. P. P."².
