Ateneo Veneto

The Ateneo Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti is an institution for the promotion of science, literature, art and culture located in Venice (Campo San Fantin). It is closely related to the local history of medicine and healthcare because it was formed on 12 January 1812 through the merger of the Società Veneta di Medicina with other academies and cultural institutions1. For this reason it hosts a huge collection of rare and ancient medical books as well as monuments of famous physicians and scientist.
