Bladder stones extractor

The bladder stones extractor, made up of horsehair and dated back to the mid-1800s, can be seen in the Museo di Storia della Medicina Dr. Ottavio Badessa in Villafranca Tirrena.
The extractor was put in the bladder to trap the stone in the horsehair and eventually it was extracted.
The bladder stones extractor is an unique surgical instrument because of its characteristics. Nowadays it is saved just in the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in the Museo di Storia della Medicina Dr. Ottavio Badessa in Villafranca Tirrena.1
