Claude Bernard's birthplace
Claude Bernard was born in this family house of Saint-Julien (414 Route du Musée) on July 12, 1813. Bernard spent his infancy in this paternal farm and was interested since very young in viticulture. The house is currently open to the public only on reservation and on special occasions. It maintains the original atmosphere and preserves various memories of the scientist.
In 1861, already famous and wealthy, Claude Bernard could buy a nearby manor where he was going to spend his summer holidays and where today the Claude Bernard's home-museum is hosted.
