Claude Bernard's home-museum
In 1861, already famous and wealthy, Claude Bernard bought a manor next to his birthplace in Saint-Julien.
In 1865, during his convalescence from a disease, Bernard wrote here his immortal essay Introduction à l’étude de la médecine expérimentale.
Today, the manor hosts the Musée Claude Bernard. The Museum dates back to 1947 but its current exhibition was inaugurated in 2014. Along its many rooms, the museum presents the life and works of the great scientist in a modern, captivating and detailed way1.
