Department for the History, Philosophy and Ethics of Medicine of Düsseldorf University

This institute of the Medical Faculty of Düsseldorf University (named after Heinrich Heine) is located in Düsseldorf (Moorenstr. 5, Building 17.11).

It hosts several collections, library and hortus sanitatis with a layer of The Hippocrates plane tree, mostly on the clinical campus. The Institute includes:

* Graphical Arts Collection Man and Death
* Duesseldorf Centre for the History of the Neurosciences
* Vester's Archive for the History of Pharmacies

Since 2016, the director is Heiner Fangerau, his predecessors are Wilhelm Haberling 1931-40, Albert Esser 1946-61, Hans Schadewaldt 1963-91, Alfons Labisch 1991-2015, and Jörg Vögele 2003-2008.
