Edgar Leroy

After graduating in both modern literature and science, he also studied medicine.
Subsequently, in May 1919, he moved to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to become a psychiatrist at Saint-Paul de Mausole Monastery.
He was the first to publish medical documents about Vincent van Gogh, that was his patient.
Dr. Leroy died on the 2nd April in 1965; at his funeral, the whole population of Saint-Rémy gave him a solemn tribute.
On the 11th September in 1965, the City Council decided that a public street near St. Paul's would be called with his name: "Dr. Edgar Leroy's Avenue".
