Elizabeth Blackwell's house

Elizabeth Blackwell spent the most of her childhood in this house of Bristol (on the corner of Wilson Street and Lemon Lane), aproximately from 1824 until 1832, when the Blackwell family emigrated to the USA1.

On the shabby walls of the house, a round memorial tablet - "donated by the MEDICAL WOMEN'S FEDERATION and friends" - remembers that "The first / woman doctor / Elizabeth Blackwell / 1821-1910 / lived here".
