Erasmo Scimemi

He was Dean of Faculty of medicine at the University of Messina twice: from 26 March 1897 to 25 March 1902 and from 12 May 1923 to 30 November 1928; in 1925 he became director of the Oculistic Clinic of the Ospedale Piemonte. He taught ophthalmology and became known for its meticulous and careful studies on medical and surgical ophthalmology.
