Florence Nightingale's bust by John Steell

This bronze bust of Florence Nightingale by Scottish sculptor Sir John Steell can be seen in the entrance hall of the Florence Nightingale Museum in London.

It "was often said by her family to be the best likness of her. Florence agreed to sit for the sculptor in 1862 because the bust was commissioned by the British army and paid for by its soldiers"1.
