Francesco Durante's memorial tablet

Next to one of the entrances to the Palazzo della Cultura in Letojanni (Messina) a marble tablet to the memory of Francesco Durante can be seen. It was unveiled in 1984, on the fiftieth anniversary of Durante's death, and its Italian inscription, quite difficult to read, states: "I CITTADINI DI LETOJANNI / CON PERENNE GRATITUDINE RICORDANO / NEL CINQUANTENARIO DELLA MORTE / IL SEN. PROF. FRANCESCO DURANTE / MAESTRO INSIGNE DI CHIRURGIA / FULGIDO ESEMPIO / PER INTERE GENERAZIONI DI ALLIEVI / UOMO GENEROSO / E DI ELETTE VIRTU' MORALI / 1934 LETOJANNI 1984".
