Francesco Puccinotti's memorial tablet

Along the left nave in the Basilica di Santa Croce, in Florence, can be found a simple memorial tablet dedicated to Francesco Puccinotti.

The black marble tablet hung up to the wall¹ carries in gilded letters the following italian inscription: "A FRANCESCO PUCCINOTTI / CHE CON ALTO INTELLETTO / NUTRITO DI STUDI FILOSOFICI E LETTERARI / RIORDINO' LA MEDICINA CLINICA E LA CIVILE / E CON MERAVIGLIOSA SAPIENZA / NE SCRISSE LA STORIA / LA PATRIA / CONSACRANDONE LA FAMA IMMORTALE / DECRETO' GLORIOSA SEPOLTURA IN QUESTO TEMPIO / -- / NACQUE IN URBINO NEL GIORNO 8 DI AGOSTO DEL 1794 / LA VITA SFORTUNATA / CONFORTANDO COLLA FEDE DI CRISTO E CON LA SCIENZA / FINI' IN FIRENZE IL GIORNO 8 DI OTTOBRE 1872"².
