He was an Italian medieval physician and diplomat; he was born in Salerno and became one of the most important members of the Schola Medica Salernitana. He was also personal physician to Cardinal John Orsini, the future Pope Nicholas III and nowadays some places in Salerno are named after him. In Salerno's cathedral, San Matteo's Cathedral, there is a portrait of him by an artist, Michele Parascandalo, that you can see in this page.
