Giovanni Maria Lancisi is buried just in front of the main altar of the church of Santo Spirito in Sassia in Rome. Its tomb has been invisible for many years due to a red carpet placed to protect the precious floor. Now (2025) it is visible again.
The Latin inscription is not easy to decipher, but it reads as follows: "D.O.M / IOANNIS MARIAE LANCISI ROMANI / MORTALES EXVVIAE HIC IACENT / CVI PRAETER ILLVSTRE ARCHIATRI MVNVS / APVD INNOCENTIVM ET CLEMENTEM XI. S. M. PONTIF. / XX. ET AMPLIVS ANNOS AB EO PRAECLARE GESTVM / SCRIPTA DE REBVS MEDICIS OPERA / PVBLICA INSTITUTA BIBLIOTHECA / ARCHIHOSPIT. S. SPIRITUS HAEREDITATEM DONATUM / AETERNAM PIETATIS ET DOCTRINAE LAUDEM COMPARARUNT / OBIIET MERITIS QUAM ANNIS CUMULATIOR / DIE XX IAN. MDCCXX 7 ANNOS AGENS LXV . M . II . D . XXV"1.
