On the front of the house has been placed a little marble tablet in his honor. The engraved phrase is the following: "CIVITANOVA DEL SANNIO / PERCHE' SPLENDA PERENNEMENTE / SCRIVE NEL MARMO / IL FULGIDO NOME DEL SUO FIGLIO ELETTO / PROF. GIUSEPPE PIANESE / ACCADEMICO D'ITALIA / CULTORE INSIGNE DI SCIENZA PURA / SEMPRE E SOLO SOLLECITA / A VINCERE O A LENIRE / L'UMANO DOLORE / 1861-1933"

The Italian epigraph means: "Civitanova del Sannio / to make it shine forever / writes in marble / the shining name of his chosen son / Prof. Giuseppe Pianese / Academic of Italy / a distinguished lover of pure science / which always and only urges / to win or to soothe / the human pain / 1861-1933"

The municipality wanted to commemorate the "Tiziano dell’Istologia"1 for his studies concerning the special colors of tissues.
