Guido Farina's memorial tablet

This marble tablet to the memory of Guido Farina can be seen inside the old Emergency Room of Hospital of San Giuseppe in Albano.

Farina's success stems from the performance of the first heart suture in history. He healed an incision/puncture wound, which compromised the left heart chamber. The surgery operation was performed at the Santa Maria della Consolazione, a hospital located in Rome and no more in place: It was the 1896.

This operation was reapeted twice inside the ER of the already mentioned Hospital of San Giuseppe.

Nowadays the building hosts municipal offices.
