Heart lung machine pump

This medical device (c.1970) can be found in Paul S. Russell, MD Museum of Medical History and Innovation, Boston.
Heart Lung Machine takes over the job of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery. Lungs oxygenate the blood and remove carbon dioxide while the heart pumps blood through the body. The Heart Lung Machine does both, allowing surgeons to operate on the heart.
