Henry Wellcome memorial tablet
On 25 July 1936, sir Henry Wellcome died, aged 82, at the London Clinic. He was cremated at Golders Green and in 1987 his ashes were buried in the churchyard of St Paul's Cathedral.
This memorial tablet can be seen in the north aisle at the east end of the Crypt of St Paul's Cathedral in London, just beside Alexander Fleming tomb.
The inscription reads as follows: "FLOREAT SCIENTIA / Remember / SIR / HENRY / WELLCOME / F R S / 1853 - 1936 / Pharmacist and / Philanthropist / Patron of / medical research / and history / Founder of / THE / WELLCOME / TRUST".
