Élie Metchnikoff's memorial collection
The Pauls Stradiņš Medicine History Museum in Riga hosts the collection of biologist and Nobel laureate Élie Metchnikoff. In 1975 the museum received the collection from the wife of Élie Metchnikoff, Olga Mechnikova (1858-1944).
The collection includes his library, personal items, documents and paintings. More information on the Museum's official website.
Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov's hair was placed in 26 containers, from 1903 till 1913.
The replica of the gold medal that he jointly received with Paul Ehrlich from the Nobel Foundation in 1908 for their immunology research.
