James Young Simpson monument

This big bronze statue of James Young Simpson has been erected in the Princes Street Gardens at the west end of Princes Street, near St. John's Church, in Edinburgh. On the basament, an english inscription reads as follows: "SIR JAMES YOUNG SIMPSON / BARONET / M.D. D.C.L. / BORN 1811 DIED 1870 / PIONEER OF ANAESTHESIA".
