John Kearsley Mitchell's portrait

This oil-on-canvas portrait of John Kearsley Mitchell can be seen in the Dorrance H. Hamilton building at the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. It was painted before 1883 and it was given by Dr. Silas Weir Mitchell, son of the subject, in 1883.
Dr. John K. Mitchell was appointed chair of the practice of medicine at Jefferson Medical College from 1841 to 1858.
