"Joseph-Dominique d'Inguimbert"(1769) by Paolo Antonio Sperduti

This portrait of Joseph Dominique d'Inguimbert, in religion Father Malachia, can be seen in the picture-gallery of Casamari Abbey, Veroli. It was made in the 1769 by Italian painter Paolo Antonio Sperduti.

Joseph-Dominique d'Inguimbert founded the famous hospital of Hotel Dieu in Carpentras, and dictated the governing rules: “All resources shall be devoted to the treatment and maintenance of the sick patients. Physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, and nurses shall be honest and compassionate towards their patients. The food of the sick and of the patients shall be satisfactory. Lastly, the pharmacy cabinet shall be well stocked and often renewed. "
