This pastel on canvas painting called "La vaccinazione nelle campagne" (vaccination in the countryside) was created in 1894 by Italian painter Demetrio Cosola and is preserved in Palazzo Santa Chiara of Chivasso (Piazza Generale Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, 8). It was intended as a celebration of the first mass anti-smallpox vaccination campaign in united Italy, which was started in Chivasso, birthtown of the painter.
