Luigi Gallo's monument

This marble statue of Luigi Gallo is a work of sculptor Vincenzo Vela and was finished and inaugurated in 1863¹. The statue is one of the Medical Monuments in the University of Turin central building and can be seen in in a niche of the ground floor gallery (south side).

Under the statue, an Italian inscription reads as follows: "AL / DOTTORE LUIGI GALLO / ANATOMICO OPERATORE E CLINICO INSIGNE / CITTADINO VIRTUOSISSIMO / QUESTO MONUMENTO / POSERO / I COLLEGHI GLI ALLIEVI GLI AMICI/ NACQUE IN CUNEO IL 3 FEBBRAIO 1801/ MORÌ IN CUINEO / IL 22 APRILE 1837 [sic]".
