Luigi Gallo's monument

This marble statue of Luigi Gallo is a work of sculptor Vincenzo Vela and was finished and inaugurated in 18631. The statue is one of the Medical Monuments in the University of Turin central building and can be seen in in a niche of the ground floor gallery (south side).

Under the statue, an Italian inscription reads as follows: "AL / DOTTORE LUIGI GALLO / ANATOMICO OPERATORE E CLINICO INSIGNE / CITTADINO VIRTUOSISSIMO / QUESTO MONUMENTO / POSERO / I COLLEGHI GLI ALLIEVI GLI AMICI/ NACQUE IN CUNEO IL 3 FEBBRAIO 1801/ MORÌ IN CUINEO / IL 22 APRILE 1837 [sic]".
