Luigi Galvani's summer villa

Luigi Galvani owned this Villa in Ozzano dell'Emilia (via Galvani, 75-77) and spent much of his summer time in it.

According to the original memorial tablet on the main facade (1873), he did here many experiments on frogs about animal electricity, especially in the years 1787 and 1788.

A modern copy of the same tablet was later placed on the wall facing the street, together with a medallion with the face of Galvani and another tablet that remembers the celebrations for the bicentennial from the birth of the scientist held in 1937. Some pictures of the Villa in 1937 can be seen here.

The villa is currently undergoing works of renovation which, commendably, are respecting these historical elements.
