Manuel Tolosa y Latour's monument

This beautiful monument of Manuel Tolosa y Latour can be found in the "Rosaleda" of the Parque del Retiro in Madrid. The stone and bronze monument by Spanish sculptor José Ortells was unveiled on November 12, 1925. It consists of a simple stone bust of the physician on a pedestal and of a bronze statue of a mother tending her little son to the doctor as a sign of gratitude. The Spanish inscriptions on the pedestal celebrate the work of Tolosa y Latour in favor of motherhood and childhood.
