Meliaduce Cicala's tomb

The tomb of Meliaduce Cicala is considered the most valuable work in the Hospital and Church of San Giovanni Battista dei Genovesi. Originally the tomb was in the bottom of the left wall, from where it was removed following the restoration work: now is on the right wall. In the central part there is an inscription:

LAVS · EST MATERIA · OPTVMI · POETAE / SIC · VITAE · CUPIDVS · GERAT· CANENDA

At the top of the monument there is the image of the Virgin and Christ, and at the sides there are Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. On the base, in the middle of family simbols, a white eagle, there is the engraved inscription:
