Memorial Chimney Piece

This so-called Memorial Chimney Piece was donated to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1888 by publisher and philanthropist George William Childs 81829-1894). Silas Weir Mitchell in announcing the gift said that it was the most valuable gift ever given to the College by a layman1. Now, it can be seen in the Norris Room, on the first floor of the building.
