old church of San Luca's memorial tablet

This memorial tablet in Bologna (via di Porta Castello, 6) remembers a disappeared church dedicated to Saint Luke where the local medical school, from the 13th to the 16th century, inaugurated each academic year on October 18th, the Saint's feast day.

The Italian inscription reads as follows: "QUI ERA L'ANTICA CHIESA DI / S.LUCA ALLA QUALE DAL SECOLO / XIII AL XVI SOLEVANSI RECARE / PROCESSIONALMENTE LETTORI / E SCOLARI DI MEDICINA E / DELLE ARTI IL DI' 18 OTTOBRE / INIZIO DEL NUOVO ANNO / SCOLASTICO".
