old San Giobbe Hospital

This was the site of an ancient hospital dedicated in Bologna (Vicolo San Giobbe) to the sick for syphilis. Form the beginning of 16th Century it was dedicated to Saint Job who is one of the traditional patron saints for this illness. At the beginning of 19th Century the hospital was transferred to the one of Sant'Orsola and, after a while, also the church of the hospital was demolished1. An ancient wall of the church and a memorial tablet are all that remains of the old San Giobbe Hospital.
