Ortomedico

The Medical Garden (Ortomedico) was an important botanical garden of the Hospital for Incurables (Ospedale degli Incurabili) of Naples used in the Seventeenth Century in order to grow medical plants, such as the secular Acanfora tree that can be seen still now. It was used by Saint Jeanne Antide Thouret and her sisters when the nun ruled the hospital on behalf of the Murat family: the courtyard connected their nunnery with the hospital. The Garden hosts Jeanne Antide Thouret's memorial tablet and Biagio Lauro's bust.
