Palazzo Chigi’s old pharmacy

A beautiful late-17th century pharmacy is preserved inside grand Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia (Piazza di Corte, 14).

The pharmacy cabinet was designed by Carlo Fontana and made by Antonio Chicari in 1670. It has a flap that can be used as a work surface. The pottery supplied by the apothecary Paolucci in 1672, is of Roman manufacture and is made up of saplings for pulps and ointments, occiuoli for liquids, pots for pills1.
