"René Laennec"(1854) after Dubois

This big oil-on-canvas portrait of René Laennec can be found along the staircase leading to the entrance to the Musée d'Histoire de la Médecine of the Université Paris Descartes, Paris. It is a copy, made in 1854 on behalf of the Medical Faculty, of the original portrait of Laennec made in autumn 1812 by French portrait painter Alexandre Dubois-Drahonet and owned by Laennec's descendants until today1.
