Salvatore Cappellani

This page lists items in the database related to Italian gynecologist Salvatore Cappellani (b. Ferla-Syracuse, Italy, 13 September 1879; d. Messina, Italy, 16 February 1943).
He graduated in medicine at the University of Naples in 1901; in 1920 he won the competition for the professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Messina and when in 1924 obstetric gynecological clinic was transferred from ex " Grand hotel Regina Elena " at " Ospedale Piemonte " he became the first Director of Clinic of the latter. He was president of the Rotary of Messina in the years 1934/35 and in 1933 married tuscan midwife Rosa Paola Ferretti. In Messina he opened the first private nursing home which was called "Casa di Salute Cappellani" and after his death became "Casa di Cura".
