In 1846 Salvatore Trinchese and his family moved to via Assunta 42 in Martano. Until 1856 he lived in this house, but then he moved to Pisa in order to study Medicine and Surgery at the local University. On the 4th of April 2015 the Municipality wanted to honour Salvatore Trinchese by dedicating a memorial plaque on the external wall of the house.
The Italian inscription reads as follows: "IN QUESTA CASA / TRASCORSE LA FANCIULLEZZA / SALVATORE TRINCHESE / SCIENZIATO NATURALISTA / DI FAMA INTERNAZIONALE / NATO A MARTANO / IL 4 APRILE 1836 / E SCOMPARSO A NAPOLI / L'11 GENNAIO 1897 / — / L'AMMINISTRAZIONE COMUNALE / MARTANO 4 APRILE 2015".
