Santa Filippa Mareri's heart

In 1706 in Borgo San Pietro, belonging to the Diocese of Rieti, a miracle happened that still today arouses admiration and surprise.
The competent authorities identified the mortal remains of the Saint and, surprisingly, found out that there still were all the bones of human body in the pit in which the pieces had crashed.
The most striking event was the discovery of his incorrupt heart, though it had remained in a tomb for 46 years; medical experts and surgeons claimed the heart to be real and realistic, entirely preserved and not at all altered by the natural state.
