Sechenov University Museum of Medical History

The Museum of the History of Medicine of the First Medical University of Moscow "I.M. Sechenov" was established in 1990 and stores about 70 000 exhibits in its collection. These are memorial foundations of outstanding figures of domestic medicine; a rich collection of medical and surgical instruments from the XVIII-XIX centuries; a collection of medals, tokens, breast signs related to medicine; a collection of painting and sculptures of the great exponent of Russian medical science; a unique collection of books and textbooks. The museum is located in the 1896-building of the outpatient clinic Alekseyeva, built by the architects I.P. Zalessky and K.M. Bykovsky on the territory of the Clinical Town1.
