The Academy Of Medical Sciences of Palermo

This academy was set up in 1621 in Palermo as the Academy of Anatomy. With the opening of the Royal Academy of Palermo and then with the establishment of the University in 1805, the Academy of Medical Sciences was tied to these academic institutions and today its office is into The Paolo Giaccone General Hospital.1
Many distinguished doctors of the Sicilian school, including Paolo Giaccone, belonged to the academy.
