The Rod of Asclepius Monument
This monument is situated in the garden of the Facultad de Medicina de San Fernando in Lima.
It represents a traditional symbol of medicine: the Rod of Asclepius, a stick with a serpent coiled around it. On the basement of the monument there are three bronze bas-reliefs representing Asclepius and his two daughters, Hygieia e Panacea.

The Caduceus is a different, albeit similar, symbol that has two intertwined snakes around a staff with wings. The Caduceus represents merchants and is the sign of Hermes, while the Rod of Asclepius is the symbol or healing and medicine. The above heading to the pictures on this page is incorrect and should read "The Rod of Asclepius Monument."
Thank you very much for your useful suggestion: I've already corrected the heading of the page!
