This oil-on-canvas portrait of Thomas Sydenham is probably a version of the one made by Mary Beale and preserved in the Royal Portrait Gallery. It was probably made by Beale herself and donated to the Royal College of Physicians in 1747 Sydenham's grandson Theophilus¹.
