War medical equipment

Medical units were set up close to the battlefields to cope with the huge number of casualties. New weapons caused new types of injuries that challenged the medical staff in hospitals in all areas of the war.

Pictures show a surgeon’s medical instruments, together with a feeding cup, ear syringe and a first aid kit. They are exposed in Ulster Museum, Belfast.
